CPA stands for Cost Per Action or Cost Per Acquisition. In CPA on-line marketing, the advertisers pay a fee for each lead or potential customer, also known as a “lead”. The advertiser will generate a landing page that is equipped with a data capture form that the user will enter an email address, their ZIP code, or even their name and physical address to participate in the advertisers “free” offer.

Affiliates earn the majority of the CPA which is paid by the advertiser.

Most beginners will begin with Hydra Network, Neverblue, or Azoogle.

Hydra Network and the others have already compiled HTML/Text banners and emails to use in your advertising efforts. Typically, these CPA networks will have a general back office to view the statistics of your campaigns. A CPA member can view categories of Campaign Name, # of clicks, actions taken(e.g., submission of zip code, email, or other types of forms), conversion rate, total campaign sales, and cost per acquisition.

Make sure that you follow the strict guidelines of each campaign, otherwise, you will find your CPA network account being terminated. For example, each campaign will have special instructions that must be followed or you will be TERMINATED from the CPA network.

Here is an example from one of the biggest CPA networks, Hydra Networks:

This campaign is available for email traffic only. Do not use the word Free in any subject lines and/or From Lines. Remove the word(s) Nothing and Free, when it is used to imply free goods or services.

You will NOT get a second chance with these CPA networks.

Play by the rules or don’t play at all.
